Missing Lexington Woman Elena Moore Found Unresponsive Near Old Cherokee Road

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Elena Katherine Moore, the 39-year-old Lexington personal trainer who had been missing since June 11, was found unresponsive in the Old Cherokee Road area on Wednesday, according to preliminary information.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported Moore to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The discovery comes after days of extensive search efforts involving multiple local and state agencies. Authorities had been searching for Moore since she was reported missing after leaving a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington on the evening of June 11.

Numerous law enforcement officers were seen along Old Cherokee Road early Wednesday, with investigators actively collecting evidence and processing the scene. Portions of the roadway were closed as the investigation unfolded.

Moore, a personal trainer at Wolf’s Fitness Center, was last seen on surveillance video walking through the Publix shopping centre at 100 Old Cherokee Road at approximately 9:17 p.m. on June 11. Investigators previously said her disappearance was considered highly unusual and out of character.

Over the past week, multiple agencies, including the Lexington Police Department, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and other emergency response teams, conducted extensive searches in wooded areas near Planet Fitness, Lowe’s, and Old Cherokee Road.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances surrounding Moore’s death. Investigators remain on scene, and the case remains under active investigation.

More details will be provided as they become available.
